Anthony’s Spritzer Crawl at NorthPark Center
Anthony Wilkinson
One of my favorite cocktails especially as the summer approaches is the white wine spritzer. A light, low calorie (70-90) option that is perfectly refreshing. It sounds basic but it takes a certain touch to make a spritzer. When prepared correctly it is the perfect drink to get a shopping day started at NorthPark Center. After making the rounds at a number of restaurants and cafés, here is a list of my favorites. But first a quick guide on how to order a spritzer.
Spritzer Tips:
—Always ask for a wine glass
—Always over ice
—Always with Club Soda, not Sprite
—Never with a straw
—If you prefer a sweeter cocktail go with a Pinot Grigio or a Sauvignon Blanc. I prefer a light Chardonnay because the wine is mixed with club soda and flavored with a lime or lemon wedge.
—-There is no need to select a pricey wine.
—-The correct way to ask the waiter or bartender is, “May I have a Chardonnay Spritzer over ice with lime.”
Anthony’s Top Spritzer Picks!
La Duni Latin Kitchen and Coffee Studio at NorthPark has an incredible spritzer. The outdoor patio is the perfect pre- or post- shopping area for you to sit, relax and enjoy this tasty delight on a spring or summer day. The price is always reasonable and they give you a nice size cocktail.
Maggiano’s Little Italy at NorthPark is another personal favorite. A spritzer is the perfect companion to your favorite Italian dish. The white wine spritzer is a great choice with some of the salads and lighter lunches and pastas at Maggiano’s.
Finally, the Mermaid Café at Neiman’s is top notch. I just love the bar area there – a perfect rest stop during a shopping day and great for people watching. If it’s too hot outside, make your way over to Mermaid and sit at the bar or a table. The bartenders are always friendly and familiar with a perfectly-presented, well-prepared Spritzer.
The next time you visit NorthPark, give a spritzer (or several) a try. I have a feeling this will be your new favorite shopping cocktail!
